All in a Day's Work

An interesting thing happened while I was at work today.   A man was arrested in my store.

During the later half of my shift, an individual wearing camo-cargo pants comes in and I don't pay him any mind, preoccupied with helping customers as I am.    I didn't even see him enter, only hearing the door open while my back was turned.   A few minutes later, a police officer arrives, and asks if anyone came in who was riding a bike that was outside.   I wasn't sure and answered as such.  People come in and out of my store all the time.   The customer I was helping, on the other hand, was much more astute than I  and was considerably more helpful in this manhunt.   (She took notice because he looked a bit more shady than the usual shady people that come in later at night, which admittedly can be fairly shady.  I try not to judge.)

The officer hauls Camo Pants out of the bathroom and sits him down to have a talk with him.   I don't know what about as two more customers chose that moment to come in, both totally unconcerned with the apprehension in progress, though they and I looked up when Camo Pants gets hauled off in handcuffs.

I had no clue what it was about at the time.

The police officer did leave his flashlight behind when he made off with Mr. Camo Pants, however, and after work I swung by the police station to return it.  Since I was there anyway, I asked the Desk Officer what the situation had been about.   From what he could tell me, Mr. Camo Pants had been drunk and had run to my bathroom to hide from the police.
