I'M FINALLY HERE!! heehee. Well, in Boston, anyway, and all checked into MIT.
So. I woke up at noon today (jetlag + plane) and am therefore fully awake (2:31am) but am hoping that pretty soon I'll get drowsy. I've been trying to sleep now for TWO hours, but deciding I was getting nowhere, decided I might as well write a few emails, etc.
My dad decided that he wanted to put my bags up in my dorm room, and since he's really the one lifting those heavy things, it was the least I could do, figuring out if I could get my key today instead of tomorrow, when I'm scheduled to check in. Things went without a hitch; check-in begins today for some, and I now have tons of packets, an MIT ID card, a voucher for a free tee shirt and lots of excitement that's also hindering my ability to sleep.
I got to see my (temp) dorm room today, a quad, as I wrote about earlier. I have to admit, though, once you get to the top bunk, it's a bit scarier than I anticipated. Plus, no guard rails, and as my dad commented, dropping five feet would not be the best way to determine whether or not you roll around in your sleep. So if I choose to bunk up there (unlike Laura's dorm room, there's not enough room to de-bunk the beds) I'll get a guard rail, for starters. It was pretty neat, getting first pick on everything.
I also bumped into one of my WTP teachers, my favorite one too, yay, as I was walking down the Infinite. (MIT's major hallway that connects a bazillion buildings together)
Other than that, last minute shopping today, activating first-ever US cell phone (!!! whee!) and now, insomnia due to an irritating combination of jetlag, waking up at noon, excitement for tomorrow, and more jetlag.
