I haven't done HP meta in a while... there haven't been many (confirmed or official) spoilers released yet, so this post will be a little sparse, but I need SOMETHING to keep my HP fan spark alive. It's dying a quick death. :(
According to
this article, the makers of the OoTP movie were advised by Jo to not cut Kreacher out, like they were planning in early drafts of the script- because then they would be "tied in knots" come the 7th movie.
Now, this implies to me that Kreacher therefore plays an important role in "Deathly Hallows", and his purpose can't be easily filled by another character or cut out entirely- because why else would Jo recommend they not leave him out? They've eliminated other characters from the movies before that you'd think would be too important to the story, and cut out a lot of character development, so why on Earth keep Kreacher? He, then, may be the House-elf standing on Harry's shoulders on the UK childrens' cover of DH- most people assumed it was Dobby. I really haven't the foggiest idea why Kreacher would be so important, but I am intrigued. It may have something to do with Slytherin's locket, which is featured prominently on the UK adult cover, and Harry is seen wearing it on the US DH cover.
As for the "hacked" spoiler I mentioned a couple of days ago, I still don't buy it. There's really no reason, story-wise, for Hermione to die- and the way she's described as dying by the "hacker" sounds more like something Ron would do. Yes, I am still convinced Ron's going to die, and he'll do it protecting the other two. Hermione strikes me as very vulnerable- both because she's a Muggle-born and because she freezes up and panics whenever she's faced with a situation where she actually needs to USE her book learning- but I don't think there'd be a good reason to kill her off. Of course, at this point, anything can happen, but I'm not convinced. I'm still undecided on Harry's fate, too...
Still jobless and bored... but the meat market right down the street will have an opening for a cashier soon, since they're expanding. I'm pouncing on that chance, because it's within walking distance and sounds like an easy and fun enough job. Let's hope I get it. *crosses fingers*
