America walked down the streets of the small American town and couldn’t help but smile. He grinned widely at everyone he passed, usually earning a smile in return. That was the way it was in small towns, people smiled back. He remembered this town from long ago, when it was a few brave frontier families working together to try and make something of the land, something of themselves. Compared to those days it was now much bigger, but still had that feeling of people trying to achieve something more than what they had been given.
He wandered into the local ice cream shop where the elderly couple had been making their own ice cream for decades. He bought a cone for everyone there, enjoying the happiness that he created. It was probably one of the most exciting thing that had happened recently. This town was a sleepy, little one sustained by a few shops and a small factory where almost everyone had a relative working. Fathers and mothers would go about their business and children went to and from school. It was peaceful, it was safe inside this little world of off-the-beaten-path America.
America loved being in the heart of his nation where he could be himself without worrying about giving offense to anyone. Despite what the others thought, he knew that his boisterous personality got on their nerves sometimes. He just chose not to worry about it, he liked being himself, and so that was what he was going to be.
Inside America, where Americans broke off into Wisconsinites, New Yorkers, Floridians, Californians, Montanans, etc, was a place where America could breathe easily. It was a place of simple families, simple work, and simple dreams.
