Making arrangements is never easy

Zhane paused as he took in the guard outside the door. He looked worn as he said, “You really don’t want to go in there.”
“Why not?”
“Kai’s having a rough day. We’ve put in a call to Leo, but for right now it’d be best for your own livelyhood if you just waited till he’s calmed down.”
Zhane patted the guy on the arm, “They called me in too.”
Then he entered the room. It didn’t take long to locate Kai as it seemed everyone else had vacated the premises. He greeted Kai brightly. Kai glanced up at him and then went back to the paper he was filling out.
“So, where’s Alpha?”
Kai pointed to a crate. Zhane frowned down at it. Kai’s voice was low and obviously annoyed, “Regulations. They made me crate him up. And this is the third time I’ve had to redo the paperwork because the system is asitine. Once we’ve got him safely on Earth I’m going back through and finding a way to fix this system.”
“Okay,” Zhane agreed as he found a seat and propped his feet up.
Kai ran a hand down his face, “I haven’t even gotten to finish going over all his new upgrade. Kendrix and I think everything is worked out and they’ll be on bugs, but…”
“I have the paperwork that should allow Adam to pick him up finished,” Kendrix said as she entered the room rereading the paperwork.
“This should let Zhane and Andros drop him off,” Kai said holding out the paperwork he had been working on.
They swapped and checked each other’s work.
“Looks good,” Kendrix nodded.
“Same here,” Kai agreed.
Kendrix looked around then, “Hey, where did everyone go?”
Kai shrugged.
“Apparently you’re scary when your upset,” Zhane informed him.
“They didn’t want me to transfer Alpha even though this could save Earth,” Kai told him, “Then they made me box him up! “
Kendrix pinched her nose, “I’m just glad you handled all six of those calls to make the arrangments. I would’ve torn someone head off.”
“As it is they now know how stupid they truly are. I’m not sure any of them made it out of grade school,” Kai muttered.
“Hey, they just got a hold of me…” Leo started as he came into the room. He stopped, “Hi, Zhane. Okay, what’s going on?”
“There’s an emergency on Earth. They need Alpha and Kai and I just spend the last two hours making all the arrangments,” Kendrix informed him.
“People are stupid,” Kai muttered darkly, “This system is stupid. I’m redoing it.”
Leo dropped down in the chair nearest to Kai and put an arm around him, “I’m sure they’ll apperciated it.”
“They’d better,” Kendrix growled as she handed the paperwork to Zhane, “Okay this should allow you to drop Alpha off and this should allow Adam to pick him up.”
“Why can’t I just drop him off to Adam?” Zhane asked.
“Because then we’ll break about a dozen different rules,” Kai told him.
“Hey,” Leo tried to comfort.
“I’m going to be fine, as soon as this whole mess is figured out.”
“It is,” Zhane said, waving his papers, “Just let me get Alpha out of here and we’ll go drop him off.”
“Thank you,” Kai said. Kendrix and Leo echoed his words. Zhane shook his head with a laugh and then got on his way.
“Why not?”
