Leo sat up, pummeled his pillow, then threw himself back down again. No good. It still wasn't magically making him sleepy. All he could see was Mike facing Crumummy and the Sting Wingers, alone, and while it wasn't exactly the first fight Mike had survived...
Leo flipped onto his stomach and groaned into his pillow. He knew it was ridiculous but he also knew there was no way he was getting any sleep tonight, so he might as well get up. "Leeeeeo, go AWAY," Kai muttered. "Damon and I have to sleep. If you need to rip your shirt in anguish, go do it somewhere else!"
Damon said something incoherent in agreement, which could've been "Right-o, old chap, I agree with Kai," or could've been "Fairy wings? Give me the green ones," if the somewhat vocal dreams Damon had been having for the last few nights were any indication.
"Sorry, sorry," Leo murmured, rolling his eyes. He crept out of the bedroom and shut the door behind him, leaning on it with a sigh. It was too bright out here and he had to wait a moment to let his eyes adjust. He yawned, and headed for the sink. Maybe a glass of water; his mouth was dry, surely that was all. He was a big boy and Mike was too, well, technically a bigger boy, and he was okay. Leo didn't have to worry.
He took a glass out of the cupboard under the sink, and placed it under the faucet, absently watching the water fill it.
And then the hand landed on his shoulder. Leo jumped about forty-seven feet in the air, and spun, landing in a defensive position, but then he saw it was Mike, who was laughing so hard he was about to strain something. "Shaddup," Leo said. "You scared me. What are you DOING?"
"Yeah, I got that part," Mike said, beginning to calm down. "I just finished my shift, figured I'd get some milk. Surprising you was just a bonus." Mike's eyes narrowed and he took a step forward with a hand raised to gently touch Leo's chin. "Hey, you okay? You look like hell."
"Thanks. Nice to see you, too," Leo said wryly. Feeling relieved he'd avoided the question, he mopped up the water that had spilled over the countertop, then wrung out the sponge and left it in the exact spot on the edge of the sink that Kai dictated. He knew only too well what would happen if Kai found something left out of place, and the words 'panties' and 'in a bunch' sprang to mind.
