well, 2009 came and went.. .
Another decade passes, and has the world changed much within the ten years? Time seems to just slip by when one gets older. As a child, I remember one year, or to be more specific, one SCHOOL year, passes by ever so slowly. Back then, I dreamed that we would be off in space and exploring various planets in a few decades. Now, I look at the news and see that its all about the bad economy, middle east conflicts, acts of terrorism through out the world. Cars are still cars, although they are more smog friendly. Heck, they even got rid of the sound barrier breaking Concord flights from US to England because of the high cost and low demand!! Sure, there are so much more safety standards and such, but seems like technology is just getting faster, yet not many new innovations.
Christmas was quite a bit different this year because our family was together. Its been so many years since we celebrated Christmas with my second brother. Kind of strange having him around for around 2 weeks at home just hanging around, playing games, and using the computer.
The night before new years eve, I got really sick and nauseous. Luckily I recovered on new years eve so that I can drive my mom to the SF airport. I was planning on maybe meeting my oldest brother and my cousin in SF that day, but my brother had to work all day, and they were planning to go eat at a sushi buffet. Since I really felt like throwing up the day before, I declined on joining them. After dropping my mom off at the airport, I didn't know what to do. It was around 2PM, and I couldn't stop and use the mobile phone that I borrowed from my father.. So I decided to stop somewhere and call my brother.
I passed San Bruno (which doesn't sound very interesting), and saw the exit for Candlestick Park. I know that Candlestick Park used to be the baseball stadium for the SF Giants. There, the stadium seems to be derelict and abandoned... the parking lot so wide and spacious, yet no cars. Port-o-potties lined up around the stadium, but no one around. Across the stadium is the national park next to the ocean. I drove around looking for parking, but I see some suspicious type of people hanging around parked in the "No parking" sign area. The entrance to the park is blocked off and closed, yet some cars are parked in the no parking zone.
Having no option, I copied the natives and illegally parked in the no parking zone. Would it really matter if I parked at this abandoned place? I got out of the car and smelled the ocean breeze. Sea gulls and pelicans called out. The beach is rocky and slippery with some broken clam shells all over. It was really peaceful and serene watching the blocked off pier and the birds flying in the sky. I picked up a rusty piece of what used to be the face of a lock and a green/blue serpentine rock. Along the beach, I discovered part of an animal's dead carcass.. Half of the ribs and one of the legs/hoof. Probably a goat? I am fascinated by such morbid scenes. Was it the remains of someone's meal? ..or some garbage left over from some occult ritual? I then embarrassed myself by taking self timer photos in the area as some cars pass by.
This year, I didn't bother to go to Old Sac to watch the fireworks. Instead, I watched the ones I could see from our driveway. I'm surprised how much we could see from our house. On new years day though, I felt very nauseous again with muscle tension in the neck/shoulders. I basically slept all day long. I think I may have something called "sleeping paralysis". That day, I again had that re-occuring dream/nightmare. I dreamed that I was sleeping in bed.. then I feel some heavy pressure on the blanket, as if someone sat on top of me. I try to move, but I can't! I am powerless as that "person" touches me all over under my blanket.. basically violating me. It is such a terrible experience to be not able to do anything about it, but it felt all so *REAL*. I "wake up", thinking about what just happened.. was it real, or was it a DREAM? I don't really believe too much on the supernatural, such as ghosts (although I love watching them on the telly), but the experience seemed a bit different from an ordinary dream.. and not to mention that it has occurred before.
Well, my sister found that "sleeping paralysis" condition on wikipedia and on other sites on the internet. From wikipedia: "The paralysis state may be accompanied by terrifying hallucinations and an acute sense of danger. The hallucinatory element to sleep paralysis makes it even more likely that someone will interpret the experience as a dream, since completely fanciful, or dream-like, objects may appear in the room alongside one's normal vision. Some scientists have proposed this condition as an explanation for alien abductions and ghostly encounters." I was very alarmed to find out that I may not be DREAMING, but HALLUCINATING. (sigh) My brother told me to put some baseball bat or weapon beside my bed so that maybe it can break this hallucination.. er, if I start to hallucinate aliens abducting me, I'll be sure to write it here!
I have to work tomorrow. Its going to be sad because our numbers are dwindling. Two more people will be missing from last year. :( Of course, my boss is going to be hounding me on catching up on the blood samples. What else is going to be new.. ? well, wish everyone a happy new year anyways!
