hi kids...sorry bout all this...

alright, so i kind of figured i would never write in this again.  i thought i would just keep it and comment occasionally.  however, something has been on my mind for a while now.

i cannot stand the media at all.  most people jokingly say they do not like lawyers, but i do not like journalists at all.  my apologies to all of you newspaper kids, this isn't directed at you.  what bothers me is the media, and their partisan sensationalism.

i'll just start right off with what sort of pushed me over the edge.  nbc aired the footage the va tech murder sent them.  how much of an ass hole do you have to be to do that to the victims families?  how much of an idiot do you have to be to show the average joe footage that police are trained to see and analyze, but is rather disturbing to the average joe?  it was completely reckless and terrible of them to show it.

then, nbc's president babbles about how it's in the mind of a murderer, and it's mostly just incoherent rambling by the murderer anyway.  none of what he says justifies what nbc did.  however, the movie flight 93 was "too soon for the people".  the 9-11 footage would have been too traumatic to show.  it's funny how when something fits their agenda we get over-saturation, but when it doesn't we get excuses.

this is not the only thing that the media has done to push my buttons.  espn has become so saturated with race related stories and "coverage" that one can hardly watch it without hearing something about race.  don't get me wrong, i know race relations are not prefect.  but they never will be, and the unrelenting coverage media gives it will only make it worse.  of course, most of the "race coverage" is decidedly one sided.

all of the poor display of journalism is not simply on nbc and espn.  fox loves to join in on the act too.  they are the counterbalance to the leftist coverage, and while if i ever do watch the news, it is fox news. they are just as guilty of sensationalizing things as well.  many say they are the worst offenders of poor journalism.  i would beg to differ, but that doesn't mean they are not bad too.

most of this is due to the news organizations bidding to out do each other.  if fox has live news coverage of the shooting, then cbs has a live interview with some random person who was there.  the worst part is it is often used in a way to slip in political messages.  the virginia tech shootings are huge grounds for those sensationalists to scream for gun control.  9-11 was huge for border security and terrorism "control".  anything has become big for global warming, and anything usually leads to how terrible america is.

i used to be proud to be an american.  thanks to our media, i am no longer.  it is sickening the way sensationalized stories are jammed down our throats.  one cannot even watch sports anymore without getting political messages thrown at them.  whats more, is most of it focuses on how fucked up america is.  most of it is wrong.  the world doesn't hate us because we are baby murderers and thieves.  the world hates us because they hear what hollywood, the bbc, and our atrocious news conglomerates tell them.  no one is perfect, and we certainly are not.  but if you listen to the news media, we are vile and disgusting creatures that all need to flog ourselves for eternity in order to repay our sins.  i'm sick of it.  i wish something could be done about it.
