I had an appendisectomy on Sunday because my appendix suddenly got itself infected. Gotta love those vestigial structures! Anyway, I've been back since Monday afternoon, but I could only handle an hour on the computer at a time, since staring at screens makes me dizzy. At first, I thought it was a side-effect of the Vicodin (!!!YAY!), but my body is just shit.
The surgery went well because it's a relatively routine procedure. The surgeons didn't even cut me open, they just used cameras...there's a term for that, but I can't spell it...starts with an L. There are three incisions in my lower abdomen that are painfully tearing and stinging healing at the moment. Also, I've been getting a lot of neck/back/shoulder/chest pain because of the gas that was pumped into my abdominal cavity during the surgery. The gas finds new places to push up against constantly. I'm supposed to walk around the house to get rid of the gas, but it HURTS. So I get one lovely little Vicodin pill every four hours to numb the pain so I can...be more active. Should be two Vicodin, but my mom doesn't want me to get addicted, and unfortunately, there's nothing I can do to stop her from controlling the dosage, as I can't open the damn bottle all by me onesies. Muscle weakness, savvy?
The whole "omg surgery!" experience was fun between the morphine pre-surgery and the anesthetics that wore out post-surgery. Maybe I'm a majorly twisted geek, but I thought it was AWESUMP being surged upon, just like little John in AHDN.
Now...it's just ugly. Because of the gas trapped in my belly, I look pregnant. My right hand is swollen and stiff because the drip was hooked into my right arm. Can't move normally, otherwise something around the wounds will tear. I especially can't bend, and when I do, ugh. Getting in and out of bed and seated positions are the worst.
I'm going to miss two marching band rehearsals because the surgeon forbade me to lift heavy things, including Juan, my horn/mellophone, for at least two weeks (until my next checkup). My mom says it's probably a good idea to switch back to piccolo for the season, but I don't know if I can do that...but that's a whole 'nother entry.
Also, the family is supposed to go up to Niagara Falls this weekend for my mom's birthday. I want to go so badly, and I will. End of story.
What unfortunate timing, but so is life. Plenty of Vicodin left ;)
PS: The reason I'm so excited about taking Vicodin (addictive painkiller) is because it is Dr. House's best friend. Just another thing I have in common with one of my favorite characters. Hey, at least it's better than being EMO like Harry in OotP.
PPS: Dude, Dad called DC United's ticket office today, and they told him that DCU's not playing Chelsea! Know why? Because that was literally SO LAST SUMMER. Too bad they didn't specify the year of the match on their freaking website.
