PAUL McCARTNEY 10/8/05

When I think of love as something new...

I'm still having trouble believing that I saw Macca, God of Rock, in person. He's a legend. The show was amazing (and worth missing Homecoming). My life is now complete, and if I die this week, just know that I had nothing else to live for anyway.

Our little group included moi, Amanda, Alice from Amanda's school, and Alieza from TJHS in Reston. The first letters in each of our names spell "LAAA." Alice and Alieza were moderate Beatle fans, and they're sweet girls. Nous nous sommes amusees :) [minus the accents because I'm lazy]

One September weekend, Amanda and I started our concert poster. The two of us made little adjustments twenty minutes before we departed for the concert, and it turned out great.

We had to assemble it after we parked in front of the MCI Center. Got plenty of stares from drivers as we taped the neck to the body. The entire thing is about six feet tall. I'm very proud of it. I hope Paul saw it; Amanda caught a glimpse of it on the screen over the stage.

Here's Alice (blonde) and Alieza (redhead) in the car writing things on the windows; it was raining.

I don't have pictures from the actual concert because the MCI bitches confiscated my and Amanda's cameras. We got them after the show.

Also bought extremely expensive shirts. Well, the olive jacket has been Amanda's for a while, but it goes nicely with the red and cream.

Our seats were good. We were the second row in section 101, and the stage was by 115-118.

Still had to look at the screen to catch Paul's quirky expressions, but that's ok. Definitely saving for better seats for the next tour!

We waited for half an hour for the curtains to go up. In the meantime, there was a slideshow of his artwork on the screen. It reminded me of Picasso, but on crack; truly horrible...keep making music, man. Then, this hot DJ came on and played these crazy mixes of Paul-songs. I was tempted to dance to the remixes, but two fifty-year old women with crimped hair and scrunchies beat me to it.

Finally, they played a little ten-minute history of Paul's life. The pictures and footage were mostly stuff I'd never seen before. I was squealing :)

And then, the curtains went up. They began with Magical Mystery Tour. I started crying.

Let me roll it...

Paul is one of the most attractive men across the universe. He's sixty-three and is hotter than most kids half his age! Here is what he wore for our concert; he took off that awesome jacket with the red satin lapels after the third or fourth song. This is a picture of him with a different Hofner [minus the dot-accents] than we had. Some guy told me that our "Hofner 500" was hot, so I guess we had a Hofner 500. Man, I didn't see a single sweat stain the entire concert. So hot.

In between the songs, he told cute little anecdotes and fooled around for us. From reading set reports from previous dates on this tour, I found out that he's been telling the same stories over and over again. But I don't mind. He can do whatever the shit he wants.

With a little help.

Picture of his band. The guy on the far left is Wix, the musical director/random instrument guy. The fat one on the far right is Abe, the crazy-ass drummer. Abe is pretty fucking cool. The guitarist in between Paul and Wix is Rusty, who is hot and reminds me of Dhani Harrison. The guitarist between Paul and Abe is Brian, who is also hot and reminds me of Tom Petty.

Peradventure, we might play.

I must confess, the guitarists are right up there with Paul on the sex-meter. Rusty and Brian are gorgeous and amazingly talented. Them together, Brian with Paul, and Rusty. Ungh.

HOKAY I'm getting sleepy.

Set List Key:
Bolded means OMG they played this!
Italicized means this is one of my ultimate favorite songs!
:( means I cried my eyes out!
:D means I danced like crazy!
***I love all of these songs to death, but I had to acknowledge the really special ones. Overall, this set list was unbelievable compared to his previous concerts.

Paul said in a Time article that he didn't want to play the same old number one hits over and over. Thank god. The songs he and the band picked were the ones that hardcore Beatlemaniacs love the most. I can't believe he played all of that Revolver and Abbey Road stuff. And I love him.

PS: my pictures aren't showing up, I know. Damn GJ to the piano pit.

And a very happy 65th to John Lennon.
