So it's been quite awhile. Mostly becuase things have ground to a halt around here. The next week is the stillest week of the summer on campus. GI's are gone, Febbies are gone, all the offices are closed, and so the library is empty. The only people in here today is us who work here, and the guys steam-cleaning the carpets. I've been occupying myself with a little side project. Becuase I read German and French, I've been working on organizing our collection of Jakob Klein's correspondence. It's a pretty massive collection, stretching back to the 1930's. There's some pretty fascinating stuff in there, too, especially around the period of '39-'45.
I found out that the lump in my breast is benign (yay) but that I will still have to get it removed (boo). I'm not real excited about the idea of surgery, or of having to take time off from school so early in the year, but I guess it's gotta be done.
I am looking forward to the school year with great anticipation. Mostly I'm looking forward to having a beautiful dorm room. I'm planning on losing that frightfully ugly metal warderobe that's in there and replacing it with some Ikea stuff. Also, paint and curtains. I want it to be some place where I would willingly spend time. Fuzz will (hopefully) be helping me put up his old loft bed in there.
Of course, I also have to think about asking someone to advise me on my paper. I'm trying to wrok up the courage to ask Mr. Tomarchio. He dropped some hints the other day about me possibly being in a seminar led by him and Mr. Barbera, which would be awesome! (but I'm not getting my hopes up)
Serena gets back this week yay!
