What an odd turn of events this is. I was sharing afternoon tea with my sister, when some strange robed woman appeared before us, and handed us these...things. And then we are so rudely ambushed by a complete and utter stranger, claiming to be the owner of our house! And so here we are, out on the street, and we didn't even get to finish our tea! By your noticeable eloquence and ability to be easily offended [blotted out completely], I presume you are one of the Draevin nobility of Zexen and not another that happens to share the surname. You may find this world will not accommodate "nobility impostors" very well.

What an offensive statement.

I can assure you, sir, my sister and I are members of the most illustrious Draevin family of Zexen.

Since you seem to be aware of my sister and I, courtesy dictates you honour us with your name.

I do not doubt that you and your sister of the Draevin nobility; I simply state that, if you were to claim you were nobility in this world, you will find yourself quickly making enemies. I am sure the Zexen Confederacy has laws against the impersonation of high-ranking members of society.

Forgive my seeming rudeness. I am Albert Silverberg of the Toran Republic, and I am in a similar situation of displacement as well.

Toran... another of the area! I met a nice Mister Futch who hails south of it.

Well, Albert Silverberg, I am Bonnie Draevin. A pleasure, indeed!

Yes, there appear to be a fair number of representatives of Toran here in this world. There are a few nobles and officers that have crossed into this world as well, such as Bishop Sasarai.

The pleasure is mine, Lady Draevin.

So, tell me, Mister Silverberg, why have we not heard of you from this esteemed family?

My explanation may sound quite farfetched, but I am sure there will be opportunities in the future that will serve as evidence...

I, like many of the others that you will see interacting on these journals, come from a different time period than you and your brother. If you have not heard of the Toran Republic, then you are from a time period at least 18 years in the past from my perspective.

May I ask what year it was last you had checked?

I thought perhaps it was a land that was not charted on our maps-- afterall, such books such as this did not exist, either!

Why, IS458! What other mad year do you think it would be?

I see. The Toran Republic was established in IS 457 with the fall of the Scarlet Moon Empire, and I assume that the news had not reached as far north as Zexen within a year's time.

The last time I checked a calendar before arriving here, the year was IS 475. I would have been a child in IS 458.

...IS 475! Scarlet Moon Empire, fall... interesting.

Hmm, so I see... I rather not like a liar, if you are embellishing details, Mister Silverberg.

What, pray tell, would I have to gain from lying to a stranger, Lady Draevin?

None indeed, Mister Albert Silverberg.

Quite a liking to you so far.

Hmmm. You do make a point.

The Toran...Republic? How laughable. (Gone~) I must confess I have not heard of this land. And I pride myself on my knowledge of geography.

And a Silverberg as well. I have heard of that family, of course, but I've not heard of you specifically. Something is amiss... (Legible if you squint).

I take it that you have been here in this 'false world' as my sister called it for some time. Perhaps you would favour us with some information?

Perhaps you would be more familiar with the country's former name, the Scarlet Moon Empire. The Toran Republic occupies the same region that the empire did before.

I am sure that, in comparison to a good sum of my ancestors, you would find me quite unimpressive. However, I am a strategist like the majority of my family before me.

There is nothing that would please me more than to impart any knowledge you find useful. I can tell you that this world is a construct of memories of the people that have been pulled from the 'real world.' This world does not appear to maintain any one time period, and so there have been instances where the dead seem to come back to life because they were pulled from a time period than others already here.

I believe it will be better if you were to ask what is on your mind. What else would you like to know?

Fascinating. Different time periods and the dead walking amongst us. What purpose have we been brought here for?

Reply

tactician_blood April 22 2006, 08:19:18 UTC
That is largely unknown. I suspect we are pawns to attempt to "right the balance," as some people appear to be brought here solely for the True Runes they were bearing in the 'real world.' There is a sorceress here by the name of Windy that is gathering these True Runes for her own desires. If the True Runes are removed from the 'real world,' I believe that the very foundations of that world will collapse and everything we considered 'real' will be destroyed.
