UGGHHH SCHOOOL

So basically I am skipping a large assignment because I'm so tired I don't think I'm physically capable of getting to class on time tomorrow morning unless I get at least 10 hours of sleep. FML.

I wrote a couple poems recently, though. Here's one:

raintrees

amid the yellowing green of early fall
the clustered pods sway gently in the breeze,
dry seeds that rustle in their rusty husks,
and make the sound of rain; thereby, "rain-trees"

the wind becomes less gentle, then,
and heavy winter clouds are driven in
the sun is near extinguished, and
the rain flies cold and slanted gainst my skin

afterwards the sky is paired in puddles,
the sun shines from the sky and everything
that's damp and quiet wetly glistens
and once again the birds begin to sing

but now the noisy seeds are damply stifled
and held by ochre shells now limply wet;
and thus the paradox that after rain
the raintree does no longer rainsound make.

The ending is a bit awkward, but I can't figure out what to do with it. Here's one that's a bit less serious:

men and the water

Ishmael, they say, befell
misfortune on the open sea:
with water, water all around,
he'd not a single drop to quench his thirst

Tantalus's ancient plight:
the water stood about his kness
but turned to air with every stoop
and so he stood forever partched;

Nemo was untimely trapped
Beneath the arctic waters cold:
His ship and crew inside the ice
half-frozen in a giant berg

But I have found a different end:
I trudge across the open ground,
with water falling all around,
the air becoming water 'bove my head;

And I am warmly wrapped, content
my green umbrella keeps me dry.
How lucky are we lower souls,
that we are not, through peril, great instead.

In other news, I really like the poetry/lyrics in this song, even though it's kind of weird. Well, really weird. And super pretentious probably. That almost makes me like it more. Is that bad?

It just seems like it has a really good vibe. (speakers with good bass help) For me, really good poetry is about words that are like spells, where the rhythm of the words is more powerful than normal speech, and I feel like this guy does that really well. I mean, it probably helps that he's like some neodruid or something and spends half his day chanting spells, but whatever. Haters can hate.
