I have just finished reading
Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire. I loved it and I'm not sure why. I mean, I find his not-so-subtle ranting on government and structured religion wearying. And while I like his writing style, that's not it. I adored
Wicked,
Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, and
Mirror Mirror,
Lost was a bit tedious and
Oasis was too standard a YA novel to be interesting. It may be the fairy tales, written in the gray areas that Disney would never touch but that stuff my collection of the brothers Grimm nigh unto bursting.
Mmm, moral ambiguity.
