The past long weekend was one of the most fun weekends I have had in a long time. I enjoyed it so much. I think it was good because there was a lot of variety.
Short form, just as an archive, so that I can remember it in the future.
Friday:
- Went to the Fremantle Arts Centre to attend the SoCo New Orleans Carnivale featuring the Polyphonic Spree. Beforehand me and Cara went and had turkish food at Istanbul in freo. They gave away free indian head-dresses, flashing wristbands and titty beads. There was a support act called The New Orleans Bingo Show. The Spree were awesome. I think they did about 8 of their own songs, and about 8 covers? Something like that. They did Hold Me Now, Live and Let Die, Lithium, and a Who Medley amongst other awesome stuff!
- We hung out with Kate-Anna and Anneke during the show, and walked to the Quarry St house for a cup of tea and a chat about bad/awesome 90s music afterwards. Great fun.
Saturday:
- Slept in until around 10AM. Read some of The Book of Basketball, watched some NBA on my TiVo, ate an I&J frozen cheeseburger (after defrosting it first, of course).
- Helped my sister move house a bit, and received free Dome breakfast at around 3:30 in the arvo.
- Went to the Ferg and Rachel going away party. It was the social event of the year thus far. Me and Ricky swam in the pool. I drank four beers rather quickly. I chatted to a lot of awesome people. Ferg beat me in a game of Foosball. I enjoyed the cupcakes, pizza and especially the lemon meringue pie. And we played Mafia.
Sunday
- Slept in until 1PM.
- Bummed around the house with Cara.
- Went shopping at harbourtown with Cara.
- Went to an awesome rock show featuring Motion City Soundtrack and The Get Up Kids. Read my previous post for details.
Monday
- Didn't go to work.
- Played XBox all day.
- Went to the movies and saw The Blind Side with Cara. It was pretty good. I still think the guy should have gone to Tennessee in order to avoid any potential NCAA recruiting issues.
- We played floorball and got pwned.
In addition to this awesome weekend I have also been breathing, eating and sleeping basketball. I am reading a 770 page book on basketball. I am watching basketball on my TV all the time. I am playing my EA NBA Live 2010 game a lot. I am playing basketball twice a week. I sometimes dream about playing basketball. All I need to do is replace my work and my food with basketball, and paint Cara orange and black and it will be my entire life. That is a part of why weekends like the last one are so good, they bring some variety, and friends and music into my life.
Meanwhile, did you know that Wilt "The Stilt" Chamberlain was 6 foot tall when he was 10 years old? Here is a picture of him in high school. Seems obvious that this kid was going to be a basketball star.
