Welcome to Shuffleupagus!
Shuffleupagus is a multi-fandom fic, art, and vid fest. It works like so:
- People submit prompts. The prompts look an awful lot like the prompts for just about any other fest, with a pairing (or character, or threesome, or moresome), and then a seed of inspiration: an object, a line of dialogue, a kink, a location, a song...
- I shuffle up the prompts, mixing and matching the first half of the prompt (the person or people) with the second half of some other prompt (the object, line of dialogue, kink, location, et cetera).
Confused? Here's what I mean. Say there are three participants:
Participant A says: (Harry Potter) Harry/Draco, lipstick
Participant B says: (due South) Ray/Ray, "I don't know where we're going to put it."
Participant C says: (Firefly) Simon/River, "Born to Run"
I run those three prompt pairs through the shuffler and come up with:
(Harry Potter) Harry/Draco, "Born to Run"
(due South) Ray/Ray, lipstick
(Firefly) Simon/River, "I don't know where we're going to put it."
Voila!
- The big ol' list of shuffled prompts goes up as a claims list! Participants claim one prompt at a time (I may edit that upwards we have way more prompts than participants). They've got until the end of the fest to post something, anything, that fits the prompt. Once they've finished one, if they like, they can make another claim from what's left on the claims list, and so on and so forth until the clock runs out.
ETA: As for what you submit, the only requirement is that you put some effort into it. Please use a beta. For fic length, the minimum is flexible; let's say a minimum of 500 words, just as a benchmark, but what I'm really trying to say is, please submit something that you put some time and work into. The same idea goes for art and vids, though they're a little more difficult to quantify. On the other end, there's no maximum length. Go hog-wild!
The first wave will last for just over a month: prompts will be accepted until Friday, February 2, the claims list will go up on or before February 5th, and claims and fic/art/vid posting will run through February 28th.
