AN: I would love an other month on this so it could get 1000 words longer, but I didn't have the time... Maybe I will write more later. But I am happy about the idea :) ETA: I changed Charlie to Bill, after a good friend pointed out that it was Bill that was most like Ron *Blushes*
Bill was angry and tired after another one of their fights. She could understand him. She knew she wasn’t easy to live with. She knew that she had to stop. She had to stop tormenting them both. She killed him a little each day.
Tears slid down her face as she stood before his grave. She traced his name with her fingers. Ronald Bilius Weasley 1980 - 1998, before she slid down and sat with her back against the stone.
“Hermione, why can’t you just be happy with me?”
The tears continued to slide down her face and she closed them. She could feel the wind blow the tears away and make them cold. Cold as the stone she was leaning against.
“Because you look like him.” She whispered. He looked at her before he looked away and she could see the shock and hurt in his eyes. She hated herself because she made him feel that way. But even still she lifted her head and her voice was higher this time. “Because you look to much like him. Because I can’t help thinking about him when I’m with you. Because even if he is gone I can’t forget him.” Because I love him, not you.
The truth was that she had known it a long time. That maybe she seeked comfort in Bill because a small part of her still could pretend that he, in a way, was Ron. She knew that it wasn’t fair towards Bill, that it wasn’t fair towards any of them, but she couldn’t stop.
They sat in silence for a while before he looked up at her. “Then maybe you should go.” His eyes were cold and she found no compassion in them. But how could she expect that after what she had said. After what she had done. She had played with him and his feelings and now she had to live with that. But in her heart she new that this was better for him and that he someday would recover. She didn’t want to drag him down with her.
She had come here after the fight, because this was the only place she could think of. The only place she knew she would be welcome. But she didn’t feel as welcome this time. The stone was cold under her and for the first time she felt that Ron was truly gone. But she put it from her mind. She had to be here and she loved him, now more than ever.
She left him then and walked out of the door. She could feel his eyes in her back. But when she was out of the house she just kept on walking and she didn’t look back one single time.
Maybe she never would feel love towards anyone else than Ron. But she didn’t care, she didn’t care that he was long buried and gone. She didn’t need anyone other than him. She was content with loving a stone. Until death do us apart, she thought with a bitter smile before she slided down on the ground close the gravestone. Close to her Ron.
Until death do us apart.
