It's all so clear now...
I was going through an old anime magazine the other day, and they had an article on villains. Of course I read it. Then they had a list of the biggest villains in anime. This is what they had to say Gendo Ikari:
"The brooding mastermind of the EVA project would probably describe himself as a well-minded altruist, but his hubris and selfishness have catastrophic consequences for all of humanity. Gendo's solution to the pain and loneliness inherent in the human condition is to cook up a blasphemously grandiose scientific project, whose importance then justifies his using everyone who loves him as disposable tools. If thats the future of human evolution, you can count us out."
OH! So THATS what it's about. All this time I completely missed the point of the show. You know what? Even now that I get it, I still think it's overrated.
And while we're on the topic of shows that suck, do you think when they were filming Battlestar Galactica they knew how stupid they sounded?
