So, I've been hanging out of Facebook off and on for a while now. Now many of you know, I'm pretty weird. I always was in high school. I liked to read, was in to D&D even though I didn't get to play. I was considered nerdy and bookish. I was on the speech and debate team, that was a kiss of death. I never really fit in at my preppy catholic high school, and was never really invited to socialize with most of my peers.
So imagine my surprise when a slew of them start to request to friend me. Guh?
I guess they have outgrown the things that divided us, that seemed to important to them then. They all seem to have kids, and involved lives, and seem so normal.
I still don't fit in there. What would their reaction be if they knew I was in to yaoi, or slash? They would probably not understand the Harry Potter, wikth the Slytherin robes, and the dressing up. I don't have kids, or a husband, own a home. I live with 2 male roommates, and 3 cats. I play Rockband, and MMORPGs and poker. I attend conventions and midnight showings. I'm very liberal.
I have to decide if Im gonna wanna attend the reunion next year, if I do, boy will it be interesting. What are the odds they got over everything they thought about me as jobs and kids, and politics, and wars, and everything thats happened in the past 20 years changed their perspective on what's important? I'm thinking it will have been replaced by a new prejudice.
