Mommy and Daddy visit California

I was quiet for several days while my parents were in town. I'm so glad they came for a visit. It was really great to see them even though I had just seen then earlier this year. They arrived on the 14th, the day before my birthday. My dad always likes to rent a car while here so he and mom can take off and do things while I'm at work, so I didn't have to go pick them up at the airport.

They got to my house in the afternoon, and my mom and I went through the stuff they brought for me while we made plans for dinner (mexican, at my fav mex place Celias.). We also went shopping at Ross which probably wasn't a great idea 400 dollars later.

They took me shopping again on Saturday for my birthday and I got lots of cool new clothes. I am such a clothes whore now. Making up for lost time I guess. That night the 4 of us went to dinner at Scomas, which was oh, seafood heaven on Earth.

Turns out my mother isn't as alergic to my kittens as we thought. She quit smoking, and was coughing up the junk in her lungs. She also has a touch of asthma which just compounded the whole thing. The coughing would get so bad at times, she would have trouble breathing.

I had to work the next 3 days, so she and my dad went on day trips to the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose, and the Redwood National Forest.

Wednesday I went home after work and didn't go to bed because my dad and I were going to the DMV to register the car in my name in the state of California so I could insure the car. *sigh* Oh what a deal that turned out to be. California won't allow you to register a car here if there is a loan on it and it isn't in your name. The loan was still in my dads name, so that meant he had to register it here in his name. Then we had to get a smog check, even though the car had the sticker that says it was manufactured to CA EPA standards. Consider that unlike the Camery which is made in Kentucky, the Scion is made in Japan. It HAS to be made to CA standards, otherwise they couldn't import them here. By now, it's been about 22 hours that I've been awake, and Im starting to get punchy. The place I normally go to for smog checks wasn't doing them that day, so we had to go to a place near my house. Another 50 bucks and 40 minutes. While we waited though we walked across the parking lot to Starbucks, got something to drink, to the dollar store where I got a Sponge Bob lunch box for Landin, and to Rite Aide for my dads insulin.

After that we went back to the smog place to wait, where I seemed to have dozed off for a few minutes. When we made it back to the DMV, we had to surrender the Kentucky plates, shell out over 800 dollars for registration, and head over to AAA to finish getting it insured. *yawn* AAA tells us they can't give me an insurance policy on a car in my dads name, so we have to buy a new policy for him, with the primary driver as me. Now it's 25 hours since I've had sleep. When we make it home I have just enough time for a quick nap before Mark gets home and we go to dinner.

Thursday we drove down to the Monterey Aquarium, which is very nice. And Friday we walked around Chinatown looking for some fleece jackets to take back to my moms friends. After we found what we were looking for, we spent the rest of the afternoon just looking in stores. We always like wandering aroud Chinatown. Mark and I found some chopstick rests and chopsticks to match our dishes.

Saturday my mom wanted to go down to the beach and watch the surf for a few hours. So my dad and I went to Kragens and got stuff to wash my car with. Then we ran it through the car wash, took it to the beach and waxed it. She sparkles now! Well, she did until it sprinkled yesterday. They left for home on Sunday, and I was sad to see them go. I liked having the around and going places together.

I can't wait til they come back. Apparently Landin asked if he could come with 'memaw' to see 'Bon Bon' in California, so mom intends to bring him.
