Rocky Raccoon 100 training week 13.

Dec 03, 2017 16:10

I was hanging up the freshly washed workout clothes just now, and I was like, "Oh, look! A long sleeved shirt! I vaguely remember that the weather was actually good earlier this week!"

The week began with some good-weathered, decent-feelinged runs to work, then ended with two tough longer runs with crappy weather for the weekend.

On Saturday, Matt and I did the Mosaic trail half marathon, which was warm and tiring, but a solid supported 13.1 miles. On Sunday, I managed to eke out a foggy, slow, difficult 16 miles on the road. I'm trying to up my total weekend mileage a bit, in anticipation of my big planned training block at the end/beginning of the year. If 14/16 hurt this much, I imagine that weekend is going to be quite the sufferfest. I'm hoping to make it a Thing and find people to suffer with me, though. I'm also hoping to leverage some support from either a Saturday Rogue run or the Rogue Black Eyed Pea run on New Years Day. That's still in the planning stages.

I found a 30k Spectrum trail race this next Saturday, and decided I'd rather spend a few more dollars to have another supported run (I keep thinking I've found my last supported trail run, then I keep finding more!) than go out and run more out and backs on the Greenbelt. (Also my big plan for my big mileage weekend is to run a whole BUNCH of out and backs on the Greenbelt, so the less time I can spend there now, the less tedious it'll be then. Hopefully.)

My mileage continues to sit a little higher than my schedule dictates, but I'm letting my body tell me what it's okay with. And as Melissa points out, even with a coach, it really comes down to doing what *I* think is right. Using the macro as a guide.
