Finally getting my act together...admission requirements

I completed my law degree a few years ago now, and then did the study component of the graduate Diploma of Legal Practice, planning on moving on to do my supervised practice days shortly after that.

But, life happened, my dad passed away, work was being challenging and I was having great difficulty finding the opportunity to do my days, and despite it being listed on my performance agreement, I was starting to think I wouldn't ever get them done.

Enter new boss, who started in late January, and in February at my performance review, he told me he wanted my plan to complete my days on his desk for sign off. So in the following few weeks, I spoke to our legal area and to the QC I work to, and scheduled my days. Boss signed off on releasing me, and I was off and running...

Well, the first four days had to be rescheduled, due to work priorities, but this week I have competed three supervised practice days  - 7 days to go with this placement (general counsel), then 10 days with an admin law area, then the last five in Sydney at chambers with Mr QC and others.

So, the last three days have been good in many ways, not least of which is I'm working shorter days! They can only get me to do a maximum eight hour day, so encourage me to leave when I've done my hours.... Subject matter has also been varied, looking at grant agreements, learning all about changes to personal property security interests, and jurisdictional issues between state and commonwealth ombudsman offices.

If all goes to plan, by early July, I will be ready to enrol in the Clinical Experience Module, and so do the final bit prior to admission....
