Considering how many people came to your support in the other entry, I'd definitely say the offended are in the minority and should just clam up and deal with it.

The problem is that the minority aren't the ones paying the bills, and Colin is. It's his BBQ so it's his rules.

err... I should rephrase that...

the problem is that the people supporting Shrokk aren't the ones paying the bills rather.

Actually, community donations are paying for it right now, but I don't like the "he pays the bills" reason. It's his board, that's reason enough, money shouldn't come into it. But I still think it's an erroneous decision and based on a (vocal) minority.

I stand corrected!

Not for nothing, but I donated a LOT of money to this forum just this past donation request time alone. I think it should matter.

I don't want to say I've washed my hands of the place, but I'm close to it.

Needless to say, I won't be donating in the future.

Singling Shrokk out for his posting style is petty and ignores all the valuable insights and advice he's given over the years. Trying to change the rules for just one person is also pretty big slippery slope. Being the admin is a position of responsibility and respectability. That includes being able to mediate any disagreements without bias. That includes not changing the rules silently because a few people whine about something or someone. Any rule changes, minor or major, should be announced and discussed by the community as a whole because it is run with community donations. It's Colin's responsibility to see that the rules are enforced fairly by the mods and hisself, without bias. If they can't do that, they shouldn't be in that position.

It just amazes that out of all the potentially offensive or disruptive behaviors on the board, *this* is the one they choose to address.

Fuck yes.

I mean there are so many trolls now and they run rampant but one ogre? and that's too many.

I'm not sure how it's "singling Shrokk out" when he's the only person on the forums who posts in ogrespeak? I understand why people are upset over this, but I think Colin had a good point and that it should at least be considered. I'm really confused as to why you seem to eager to blame this on clique bias? If anything, the request for Shrokk to stop posting in Serious threads is unbiased, considering a majority of the posters at FO love Shrokk.

I know he wouldn't mean any harm, but there are plenty of people (myself included) who would be slightly offended if Shrokk posted what are essentially gimmick posts in a Serious thread. If people have voiced this opinion before, it's pretty inconsiderate for the rest to say "well just shut up and get over it because we like to see him post in your threads."

I have nothing against Shrokk, and this isn't really a pressing issue on my mind, but I felt like saying something because I fail to see how this is such a sign of bad moderation.

I almost deleted this because I'm not trying to start any fights, but I have decided to stick it out

Shrokk isn't "essentially" a gimmick. He is the online persona of a rather intelligent and caring individual that prefers the anonymity of Shrokk. Not everyone is as carefree and open about their identity online for a variety of good reasons. Dual personalities will likely become more common in the coming years as society continues to use a digital medium for communication and socializing ( ... )
