Flightplan, E-town trailer, and Viggo w/Jon Stewart...my three boys!!

*squee!* Yesterday was a verrrrrry good day for me, in the world of SQUEE!

We went and saw Flightplan, and OMG SEANIEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeee!!! He was sooo gorgeous and all crisp and formal and with his posh accent on. I melted quite a bit. But the film itself was a disappointment. Not the worst thing I've seen, I didn't feel pissed off afterward like I have with some other films, but it was definitely a let-down, especially after such a promising beginning.

Okay, WHAT the hell were they doing with the end of this movie? Was it just me or was Sean TOTALLY under-utilized? I kept expecting him to figure out what was going on, to help, to become involved in the plot somehow, but nooooo...they just used him as a red herring. (Is it wrong that I felt slightly pervy about how easily he handled that gun when he took it? *snerk*)

I read a lot of reviews that all said the same thing. Jodie was good, Sean was good, and Peter Sarsgaard was phoning in his role from somewhere else. Of course Peter can't be blamed entirely for the empty script...I mean, they didn't give him any backstory or motivation or well, anything. And the whole complicated nature of the scheme was just too ridiculous and would've required a hell of a lot more motive or lunacy to explain all that crap away.

It started out sooo creepy and was shot so well--ethereal and mysterious with a huge sense of forboding. They really had me going in the beginning. And they sure as hell scared the hell out of me with the plane scenes when she cut the power, etc. But hubby said it all just felt anticlimactic to him, and it did to me, too--especially when the film dealt so heavily on certain things but then when they reveal the bad guy they do it so nonchalantly that you're going, "Huh? Wait--is he?" It was just weird. And I said, it felt totally wrong to me that the pilot did not get involved more, when it seemed like they were setting it up to give him clues and have him figure it out. Grrr.

On a purely sexual note, I was enjoying Seanie doing the heavy breathing at the beginning when he's trying to decide whether to believe this frantic woman or not. I don't think it quite had the effect they were hoping for...hee...*pervs* Aside from the lust factor, he was really good, though, too. He had some good emotional scenes and once again had you feeling sympathy for his character--they really wasted that opportunity. Grrr again.

So...anyway...I can't say it was the worst film I've seen, it had a lot of good elements and I have to say I was fairly entertained. It would make a fine TV movie or rental I think. I was thrilled to see Sean on the big screen and he did amazingly well with what he was given--and I'm happy for him because it's the first time in awhile I've seen him mentioned in nearly all the reviews. Usually he's forgotten entirely or mentioned only in passing. So it was nice to see him getting raves even if the movie overall didn't. *hearts him*

We were seeing Seanie's film on the ULTRA screen by us, and hubby was teasing me about getting to see Seanie's nose two stories high...lol...well, his nose wasn't *quite* that big...ha! But his profile looked lovely. And then I got all stunned by being presented with an Elizabethtown trailer....*SQUEE!* Orlando looks sooooo beautiful in this film--it should almost be illegal. I think I'm so exicted, too, because it's Orlando with his goofy gangly charm and I've been waiting SO long to see him like that on the big screen. What's funny to me, too, is that while it sounds odd to hear him without his natural accent, his pitch and tone sound more like everyday Orlando than anything he's done so far--so my brain kind of short-circuits hearing Orlando-but-not every time he opens his mouth...hee. I suspect someone who isn't familiar with him probably wouldn't notice anything at all; I'm too close to the subject. *G*

In any case, I'm *writhing* in anticipation, because everyone involved with this picture is sooo good and I'm just hoping it's going to be the pleasant and maybe slightly magical experience I'm hoping for.

And then there's Viggo on the Jon Stewart show. Lovely puterpatty has the caps and download available if you skip over to her LJ! Viggo was PRICELESS! OMG! I was laughing my ass off!! He totally threw me for a loop because I hadn't been expecting him to go the route he did with this interview.

When he started pulling all those little snakes and such out of his water mug I was incredulous, and at first I thought that the people on the show had done it to him. But then I realized he'd done it himself and I was HOWLING over how many he got in there, and then he was just so so fuckin' funny about the whole thing. That brilliant dry sense of humor--I'm wondering if he's upped his pot intake or something...lol...because he's been in such a fine mood lately and really enjoying himself on these shows despite his natural shyness.

I told hubby you never know what you're going to get with Viggo. We expect him to make some sort of political statement and then, no, he pulls bugs and snakes out of his water mug...lolol! It reminds me of Lij saying sometimes Viggo goes "slightly mental" and I can see it's like that. It's always the quiet ones, isn't it? Heeee...I wish Jon did longer interviews because I think the two of them could have gotten up to more mischief.

One more thing, though, I noticed that Viggo looked *small* next to Jon Stewart and holy crap...Jon had just said on the episode before that he himself was a "tiny, tiny man"...heh...but Viggo looked small too! The boy needs to eat a few more cookies, I think. He looks lovely and handsome, of course, but a few pounds wouldn't hurt him at all. *squishes Vig* *feeds him pasta*

*

So yeah, I got to see all three of my boys in one day and I am soooooo happy. Oh, and then there's these hot pics of Eric Bana and OMG!! *essplodes from hot sexy man overload*

*hearts OT4 madly* Damn, I STILL have no icon for that!
