Better than sex....Naked Faramir!!
So hubby and I have this thing in the video store, where while we're looking, if we see some mildly or severely raunchy title, or just something silly, we'll suggest it to each other: "Um, Naked Ninjas, honey?" "Erm, no...how about Vampires of Lust? *points to cover with woman in bustier with fangs*" "Um...No." So today we went to get Two Towers to rent and hubby says to me "Better than Sex?" and I went "WHAT?? WHERE??" and then snatched up a copy instantly...ha!.
Hubby stared at me, going okayyyyyy...and I'm like "Naked Faramir! Naked Faramir!!" at which he heaved his "Oh God another squeefest" sigh and dragged me toward the counter before I could find any other naked man movies...lol.
Okay, I know someone has screencaps from this movie...can you please tell me who?? I would like to put them in here 'cause they're the reason *I* wanted to see the movie.
The blissful bonus was that I LOVE LOVE LOVED this movie. TOTALLY adorable and sweet, and David Wenham has this lovable geeky quality..hee..he was perfect for this 'cause he's so "regular guy" but yet when you see him in action he turns on the charm and the sexiness and you get all flushed and horny just like in real life. :P
That's what I loved about this--it was so REAL. They'd never make a movie like this here...it took me about 10 minutes to get used to it, in fact, because the gal was COVERED in freckles, and David had large pores...lol. Once I got over the Hollywood brainwashing of "everyone must be make-upped and airbrushed" I just adored this...you see people's beauty for the way they are, not the way they're made to look.
The movie's basically about a one night stand that stretches into a 3-day stand while he's in town. And they find that they click so well, and are at such ease with one another, that they start to think that maybe it should be more than just a 3-day thing.
The film has a unique style, kind of arty and it's fun how they give you both the characters' thoughts through the whole of it, with occasional interspersing little "interviews" with friends of theirs, people at the party they met at. And many of these insights, comments, interviews are HILARIOUS.
And that's the thing...I was just grinning like an idiot through all of this, because it was all so fun and familiar, too. I saw a lot of me and the hubby here...that great sex that's interspersed with joking and teasing...like her trying to fix the bed while he's slowly pulling the sheets off...and then one morning she's poking his face while he's still sleeping, pushing on his lips and mimicing a growling sound, until he of course suddenly growls and snaps at her and she screams and they laugh and okay maybe you just have to be there...lol.

Like I say, David was perfect at this...I'd think things were about to get awkward or something hurtful might be said, and then he'd just come out with this hilarious little line, something absurd to make her laugh, in his charming Aussie accent, and I and she would just melt.
And he let her dance on his feet. *swoons* I love that. That is one of my favorite things in the world.
Susie Porter was fabulous in this as well...very likeable, very straightforward and outgoing, with just the right hint of vulnerability peeking through now and again. You really believed in her, wanted good things for her, which is very important to me in movies like this--if the guy is lovely but I hate the woman the whole thing just crumbles. And I liked this character very much.
And like I say, the film was beautiful artistically...all sorts of unique angles of filming, focusing on just a leg, or a shoulder, or a sock on the floor...telling the story through these little beautiful things that you don't always focus on. I think Viggo would have liked it very much...his photographs are like that, pictures of things people don't always notice but can be beautiful in their own way.
There was something so seductive about it, too...in particular I loved the time they focused on her foot, with her sexy little toe ring, caressing the hair on his chest while they were in the tub. Just lovely.
And the sex. Um, yeah. The sex was very hot. Sometimes funny, sometimes not perfect, but definitely passionate and erotic.
David has wonderful eyes...he can do a marvelous puppy dog look with them...and a lovely long nose (we all know how I feel about those..*cough**cough*)...and the cutest lil ass. He's also very comfy being naked and has this easy sensuality about him. delica might enjoy this...he's got his legs splaying in the bathtub scene...whooo!! Yes, I know he's no Viggo, but I wouldn't kick him out of the tub. :P
So yeah. I recommend this movie. Highly. Like I said, I was just grinning through the whole thing. I'm definitely going to put it on my list of movies to buy. I'd like to have this around for some rainy day when I'd like a mood-lifter!!
