Sugar Gliders (and help for HART)

Sep 30, 2008 23:26

Hello All!

I've been meaning to post pictures here for quite some time of my baby

Sugar Gliders are small nocturnal marsupial animals that are native to Eastern Australia and Indonesia. Sugar Gliders are named for their preference for sweet foods along with their ability to glide. The ability to glide comes from their skin membranes which run from the front to hind legs. When at rest, the membranes are not very noticeable but when in flight the glider appears to double in size. While a small animal (usually growing to only about 6-7 inches in body length and an additional 6-7 inches for tail length) Sugar glider flights (glides) have been measures at 200 feet.

Also, sorry to use this forum, but an animal rescue I work with called HART has a chance to win 10,000 to help support future rescues.

HART (Homeless Animals Rescue Team), a non-profit, no-kill animal rescue group that has saved thousands of lives since 1990, depends entirely on volunteer efforts and donations. Thanks to our strong volunteer corps, over 97 cents out of every dollar donated goes directly to medical care, temporary housing and, where appropriate, training for our animals. A online vote-in contest could win us $10,000 -- sorely needed funds. Please take a few minutes to vote by clicking on the link below and filling in a few blanks. Please also forward to family and friends to keep us in the running for winning an amount that could mean the lives of many dogs and cats. You will receive information to forward a link to your friends after you have voted. HART can be found at "Virginia," "Fairfax Station."
