OTW Membership now open!
In case you aren't watching otw_news, I wanted to mention that membership is now open for the Organization for Transformative Works (OTW). You can read the membership announcement in six languages. How awesome is that? Pretty awesome, I think!
Thing 1: You will never have to donate or become a member of OTW in order to use its services, just like how you don't have to pay to watch PBS or listen to NPR. If you don't have the money right now, are dubious about OTW, or want to wait until the archive goes live before you commit -- that's okay!
Thing 2: Have you seen the roadmap for the Archive of Our Own? Because seriously, you guys, when I saw the roadmap for the first time, my response was, "I WANT TO MAKE OUT WITH THIS ARCHIVE." Total author control! Comments! Tags! Bookmarks! Readings! Searches! Subscriptions! Communities! And this is just Version 1.0!
Fandom built this organization and is making this archive. It's going to be really cool, and it's going to be ours. You can join anytime you like and give OTW your support. If you don't, you still get to play with all the shiny toys, which I think is a pretty good deal.
