I mentioned to nestra that I was pondering this meme:
Post a list of your top five favorite stories you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. this isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most.
I said I was too neurotic to do it. Nestra told me I had to do it anyway, and then threatened me with something evil, and by "evil", I mean she said she'd direct people to stories I wrote 7 or 8 years ago in a fandom Which Shall Not Be Named.
That's enough to make me want to hide under my bed for an entire year. Hey, I have four longboxes of comics under there. At least I'd have something to do.
Big Damn Zombies, Sir (Firefly) -- Zombie!Jayne will never not be funny. Monkey brains? Also funny. I still think it's an entertaining ensemble piece, and I like the dialogue. I don't think I even wince once while reading it!
Weapons of Some Distraction (SGA) -- Because I love dorky dorky dorkboys who are in love, but would rather play with catapults than talk about it. Also, it was fun trying to write from John's emotionally-stunted POV. And, seriously, I love that hideous unicorn lamp.
Networking (Smallville/Sports Night) -- It's a crossover that shouldn't have worked, but somehow I think it did. It wasn't easy getting Lex to mesh with the Sports Night universe. The completely self-indulgent Danny and Lex porn helped, I guess. Pizzazz! Inscrutability! Tiaras!
Blind Date (Teen Titans) -- I love Kon and his Pokémon boxer shorts. He's just so much fun to write. TIM'N'KON4EVAHHHH!!!!!1! Ahem. Sorry about that. It happens sometimes. I'm just not rational about Superboy and Robin.
Tar Beach (Justice League) -- It's really not the best thing I've ever written, but wow, do I still love that Flash/GL porn. Porn thete1 tells me to write usually ends up memorable like that. It usually takes a few years after writing it for me to find a story hot, and even then, it doesn't happen very often. But this. Yeah.
I will probably change my mind tomorrow, but hey, look. I did it.
