Quickies
• I finally figured out a birthday present for Y, now the only problem is when do I find the time to make that gift. *sigh*
• Hopefully, I will get my short vacation by the beach next weekend and I will finally be able see dolphins. *keeping my fingers crossed*
• I am looking forward to spending X'mas and New Year with Y.
• I am not at all in a mood to study but there are a lot of things that need to be done before I get into a celebratory mood.
• There is something about giving and receiving surprises that is so incredibly exciting! :D
• I am currently reading 'Blink' by Malcolm Gladwell which is an engaging read. Yesterday, I also brought 'Christmas Carol' by Charles Dickens from the library. YAY, to that!
• I love gift-wrapping. That shiny, crinkly paper ,those colourful ribbons and the excitement of what lies underneath! OOh, what fun!
• 'Mann udhaan varyache' must be the best Marathi song ever. I love that song! It is so refreshing!
• There is a wedding in the family next door and I am playing a peeping Tom and it is fun to do that, once in awhile! :P
I see the bride and groom at the wedding reception tomorrow.
• Recently, a friend who works to implement Govt. schemes in a village near Pune, lent me a book written by a health care worker who is also a midwife, and this book talks about her experiences as a midwife in villages of Maharashtra. In a way, the book is an eye-opener on the reasons for the high child mortality rate in the villages of India.
I hope to meet this woman (the author) the next time I visit my friend's place.
