All the criticism of Keven Pietersen is kind of bizarre. Yes, he played a silly shot in the first innings but he also top scored with a decent 69 in that innings... unlike, say, Strauss, Cook, Bopara, Prior, Flintoff who all got out to silly shots without having made very good scores..
Particularly bizarre is the criticism that he's selfish and doesn't put the team first. Well, there's one guy in the side who definitely should be doing that - our esteemed captain who failed to play a captain's innings on the fifth day, leaving that to Mr. Collingwood (ironically, another player much criticised) and who was outscored by Jimmy Anderson...
We have a captain who all too frequently plays silly shots, who does this before having scored significant runs, who fails to lead from the front in difficult situations and yet, for some crazy reason, our press is busy criticising one of the only two England batsmen to make a real contribution in this match. In my opinion, the person who really needs some criticism to shake him out of playing idiotic shots at idiotic moments is Andrew Strauss.
