009.th FRAGMENT [action]

Oct 24, 2010 04:16

[ It has been a quiet and fairly lazy week for Aether. One of the recent conversations had once again made him realize how much he doesn't know about the most simple things - things like holidays and special dates or occasions - and so he decided to spend some time in the library, shuffling through books in order to gain some knowledge ( Read more... )

[Terra is definitely out and about in the afternoon, inspecting the town with great interest. She hasn't escaped the Costume Police either, now somewhat resembling a moogle-like human. That hasn't traumatized her in the least, even when she discovered that it can't be removed for long. Oh, well. She doesn't mind.

Upon passing through the town square, Terra raises an eyebrow as she reaches the fountain. There's a moment of curious observation before she asks the inevitable.]

...pumpkin-carving? I thought that was done for us.

I didn't like how this one turned out.

[ Well, at least his voice is still the exact same... as similar to several inhabitants of Luceti as it is.

He raises the pumpkin up and gives it a curious look, only to shift his attention to Terra. ]

... You really like those things, huh? Moogles, that is.

[Terra nods, though she's quick to explain.]

I didn't design this outfit, though. I just stepped outside and suddenly I was dressed this way.

[She looks over his costume curiously.]

That happened to you, too, right?

In my case, it happened as I was exiting the library...

[ Rather than explain how he came to spend all night in the library, he's quick to change the subject. ]

Except I don't know what I'm supposed to be.

[She looks over his costume intently, brow furrowed. After a moment, though, there's an apologetic expression as she shakes her head.]

I'm sorry. It doesn't look at all familiar to me, but that doesn't mean someone won't recognize it.

...is it comfortable?

... The hood is a little awkward.

[ He's used to wearing tight-fitting clothes, even if he never wore anything so revealing. That part, however, isn't something he'd want to discuss with a lady. ]

Hm...and I guess when you tried to remove it, it would just reappear?

[Yeah, something like that happened to her.]

It's more that...

[ He raises his hand and tugs on the hood. Whether it's because he's not doing it right or because of the nature of this suit, but the thing doesn't budge a bit. ]

See?

[Her eyes widen.]

It's stuck?! Why would they do that?

I wouldn't know.

[ It's something he's been wondering about for some time now. ]

I hope it doesn't stay like this for too long.

[Terra frowns, pondering that.]

Well, they made us wear costumes for Halloween last year. If I had to guess, it will probably last until then.

Halloween, huh...

[ A long pause. He's read something about it in the library, didn't he..? ]

Then... around a week from now, is it.

[She nods.]

It's the last day of the month. And right after that, everything went back to normal, so...I think that's what will happen this time, too. More or less.

Hmmm...

[ A week wearing this thing... well, as far as his eyes hurt from this mask, the rest can be avoided by him not being the most social of butterflies. ]

I'm sure I can endure that long.

[ Of course, he might just be trying to make sure she doesn't worry. ]

[She's wondering about that, but nods, not really able to help negate the effects of the experiment.]

I think that's the only thing we really can do...endure and wait for it to be over.

...not that costumes are especially horrible, compared to some of the other things they've done.

Mm...

[ Although it has been months, he still hasn't gotten over the time someone poked at his gills. Compared to that, a purple bodysuit is nothing less than a godsend. ]

This mask hurts my eyes, but it's nothing I can handle. How about you? Can you handle yours?
