I'm seeing Alex. You seem like a fairly quiet and closed-off person in public, like Alex, and you mention not wanting to be a sidekick (maybe I'm reading too much in to this but the whole coming second is "worthless and dirty" thing reminds me very much of Alex). And finally, you mentioned having a particular soft spot for Alex.

I also think Alex because you have that sort of confidant silence aura around you that reminds me of him. And you also seem pretty self reliant and calm.

Huh. That was surprisingly unrevealing. My main ideas were Curtis, Alex and Josh, perhaps some Adam thrown in. I will go with Alex, some of my reasons from this application being
# He seems to have a fair amount of pride that might make him equally scornful of the title 'sidekick'.
# "I don't think you need any of those things to "tolerate" life, it's only the weak and cowardice that need them." - I remember a similar reaction from him, at the very least he seems disgusted enough by the mayor.
# Let's face it, if they drown it means you're not good with children.
# Your music
# Quiet confidence
# Rejecting the 'part of the solution or part of the problem' concept, which is very much what he did.
# Dislike of the small town setting as well as making the 'blood is thicker than water' thing depend on the circumstances

I am going to go with Alex. Like everyone else has said, you have a certain air of confidence about you, also you are pretty independent from what it seems and calm.

I'm gonna break the mold here and go with Lilian.

While you're not entirely unwilling to help those in need, you specifically stated that you'd be reluctant to get in the way of someone disciplining their child, as the sacred line is hard to see and it could really just be that, discipline.
Lilian chose not to interfere with the horrors befalling the children of Shepherd's Glen, which was far more drastic, but I think the motivation was generally the same. Her cold, distant treatment of Alex also seems to indicate that she never had an easy time dealing with her children in general.

That said, she clearly was not happy with the terrible things that had happened, and even if she had played a part in bringing them about, I do not think she enjoyed it, or WANTED to harm her children, and felt guilty for her treatment of Alex. I think she, too, would have wanted Alex to get that little bit of retribution.
