Of kids, colors, and fun galore!

Work is keeping me on my toes! Literally! And that leaves me with no time to pen down random musings or to sit down and paint a thought. The last two weeks had been so hectic that I only looked forward to resting at home on weekends. Well, that didn't quite happen either. Some of my closest buddies made sure I don't spend weekends at home catching up on my beauty sleep (aka afternoon nap...my precious afternoon nap).

Not that I'm complaining but between attending a close friend's wedding, my best friend's engagement party, watching movies at multiplexes, and shopping for more books and DVDs, came one opportunity to experience something different.

Sunday afternoon was spent doing volunteer work at an orphanage in Bandra. And the kids! They are: quite a handful, a bundle of energy, a mischievous lot, a spurt of giggles, a commotion, a sight of innocence, and all smiles.

They sported almost all the colors of this world - a dash of pink blush, a tired look of blue, a peaceful look of pure white, and even a devilish shade of grey. I think I might run out of words describing them.

I wish I could just sit in one corner and observe them - how they behave, how they think, how they try to vie for attention and if they don't get it, make funny faces or simply jump all over you till you attend to them.

There were various activities planned for the kids including a rock climbing of sorts, tattoo painting, magic show, dance, and loud loud music. But my most enjoyable time came when I painted tattoos on the teeny-tiny hands of these cute monsters! While the guys preferred ghosts, dragons, snakes, and scorpions, the girls went for flowers, stars, butterflies, and hearts. And I had the best time catering to their demands. I was happy to hold the paintbrush and tried not to fret over the long queue that had materialised in front of me. And when Sid spotted me having a gala time painting away, he quipped "bandar ke haath mein baatli de di". :-P

The party ended late in the evening but the kids didn't seem to have gotten tired at all. It was a lovely day! A great experience! I'm already looking forward to our next visit there.
