Today:
Personally, having short hair was soo nice! I'm totally the up and out type of girl, and the less maintenance required, the better. Having short hair gave me style without the fuss. But bangs were uncooperative about 70% of the time. After the first week, they were already misbehaving. I love the look of bangs, but after growing them out when I was in grad school, they never quite worked right for me again. They really refuse to sit right on top of my forehead correctly.
Anyways, I plan to get a haircut when I get home. How short should I go?
Today I will be attending my apartment mate's "hooding" ceremony. She is getting her doctorate in Statistics (like I will be in 3-4 years from now). She already got a post-doc position in a university in Taiwan, and I am super happy for her. Anyways, where she is now is where I want to be in a few years. Her parents have been staying over at our tiny apartment for a week now, and even though they don't speak English (other than Hello and Good morning), they have been super nice. Her mom is so sweet and her dad not scary at all. He even offered me some tea that they brought from Taiwan (it was delicious!). I tried to remember my Mandarin, but I am SUPER rusty. Mostly I sort of understand what they're trying to say, and I smile and nod. There's really not much else I can say or do in response. I will miss them all when they leave at the end of the month.
