There is blood on America's hands.
warning the following is controversial and may be extremely offensive to some. remember this is just my opinion, and i welcome yours.
I agree with Noam Chomsky, but only in some ways. I do believe our government today controls our media and press in some way or another. I wouldn't go all the way and say we are brain washed or anything. If there is a story it will eventually get out whether the government wants it to or not. Our government tries to set an example of peace, freedom, and liberty, but i believe that it is hypocrisy. The american government is just as guilty of greed for power and money as every other country. Torture is illegal in the the United States, but what about all the Afghanistan prisoners that were in US custody and some how wined up in other countries were torture is legal and found dead in the streets. Why was there practically no press on the invasion of East Timor by Indonesia, where huge numbers of civilians were being raped, tortured, and killed. Because the United States were the ones selling the weapons to Indonesia to kill all the civilians. All the third world countries that are at war with each other (Africa for example were the drug up kids with cocaine mixed with gun powder and give them guns to walk the streets with) and can't afford to feed their people but own millions of dollars worth of weapons, where do they get these weapons? The United States is the largest small arms dealer in the world. You figure it out.
A more recent case is about Ambassador Jospeh Wlison. When the administration asked Wilson to investigate weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. He came back with nothing proving Iraq as a threat. The administration didn't like this answer and proceeded to invade Iraq anyways, stating that weapons of mass destruction were found there. Wilson then proceeded to publish an article on July 6, 2003 in the New York Times calling Bush's evidence into question. Which I believe he had every right to do. Only 8 days later an article was published in the Chicago Sun Times revealing the identity of Wilson's wife as an undercover CIA agent. Not only was his wife's career destroyed, her life was put at risk. This isn't just extremely bad taste in my belief but is completely morally and ethically wrong.
That is just some extremely brief examples. Yeah it is a lot worse in other places, and I am glad we don't live like other countries, but at least those countries aren't trying to hide there dirty deeds.
Am I saying I hate America, I want to rally and protest, start riots on the streets, rebel, become a trader, become an anarchist? Absolutely not, I love America. I take extreme pride in being an American and I don't take it for granted one bit. I love what we stand for, Liberty. But on the other hand, there is a difference. You can take pride in America, but not in our government.
We just wash it off.
