Room 201, Tuesday evening

Jul 05, 2011 21:35

Scully was attempting to do her Russian IV homework. Without much success. Whoever her new neighbor was in 202, they were playing very loud music while she was trying to work.

Time to introduce herself.

Kenzi was decorating the Bart Habitat, for whenever her missing roomie came back. There was a bedroll, some pillows, a mini-fridge they'd gotten for him earlier, the TV set, and now she was wondering where she could scam a couple microwave ovens.

Dancing along with Ludacris, she didn't hear the knocking for a minute, then went to answer the door. "Hey. 'Sup?" she asked the short redhead with the ultra-serious-face glasses.

Scully gave the girl a strained smile, and said very politely, "Could you turn the music down a little? I'm trying to study, and it's a little loud."

"Seriously? It's summer. You're studying?" Kenzi said, incredulous. She did move to turn down the music slightly. "How big a geek are you?"

Scully gave her a mildly exasperated look, then toned it down as the music went down. "I'm taking college courses so I can graduate early. It's after nine p.m., I'm sure there's some kind of rule about music at this hour."

Kenzi stared. "You have to be joking. Have to be. It's not even midnight! This can't be a rule!"

"We're all living very close together, and we try to be considerate of our neighbors," Scully said somewhat stiffly. "And I believe it is."

Actually, she wasn't sure. But she really did want that music down.

"College courses. So, what, you can't lighten up when it's still light out?" Kenzi asked, annoyed. She scowled. "What's going to happen if I turn it back up, hunh?"

"I'll report you. Eventually," Scully added, because she certainly wasn't going to call Security for something this minor. "But I appreciate your--"

That would be Kenzi turning Ludacris back up to 10, thanks. And smirking.

Scully glared at her. Right. Reporting was going to happen... tomorrow.

She went back to her room, the door open. And turned up Beethoven as high as it would go.

So Miss College Prep wanted to play?

Kenzi put her speakers against the wall and turned it up to 11.

Fine. Scully opened turned hers up as high as it would go, then dialed the landline for Room 202.

And put the phone next to the speaker.

Kenzi turned hers down for a minute while she got the phone-- then got blasted by more classical music from the handset.

"You did not--" Oh, she so had. Kenzi slammed down the phone, then turned her music back up, and switched tracks to something even louder.

Scully slammed her door shut to try to block out the music, then grumbled and dug out her earphones. Put in earplugs. Cranked up the music again.

Swearing in Russian helped. A little.
