Coincidence? You Decide!

Lately, though I haven't felt well enough to make it to writing group, various insights and resources have fallen into my lap.

Today, it's the first episode of BBC Radio 4's Poetry Workshop, all archived and ready to go.

dr_pretentious, I'd love your reaction to the programme.

I'm looking at a 2nd round of antibiotics for a horrible sinus infection, and yesterday it hit me hard just how bad my self-care has been of late - the moment I began to feel rough, I abandoned the things that support and nourish me. Again.

This morning, instead of rolling over and dozing while T showered, I got up. I got up because I set the alarm that early so that he'd have extra time for showering, and I'd have extra pre-breakfast time for Morning Pages.

So I did Morning Pages, sitting doing light therapy, getting a dose of light before even I began to tuck in to breakfast. I began to realise that just this extra 20-25 minutes meant that I was more co-ordinated, less rushed while making breakfast, felt more organised, and, having already accomplished my Morning Pages, felt readier to face the day.

The moment T left for work, I did a 30-minute meditation.

Yes, I still feel rough. I also feel more supported, more aware that my simple acts of generosity to myself are already changing the day. And, somehow, that it's on the back of such simple acts of self-care that beneficial "coincidences" occur (or are more easily seen and acted upon).
