Annual Dietary Round-Up

Dr Greger's annual round-up of research on diet and health contains some shocking and - to me - very heartening information. Yes, it's frightening that the first signs of atherosclerosis in kids who eat animal products and synthetic trans fats can be seen by the age of 10. It is, though, fascinating and wonderful that going vegan gets rid of it, and that a plant-based diet is still the best and most effective treatment for most of our most common killers and autoimmune disorders like MS.

Also, Dr Greger's pretty damn funny and is perfectly happy to point out the tortured logic of the USDA advising the egg industry that they can't call eggs "healthy" or "nutritious" because that's false and misleading, and then suggesting words like "satisfying" and "perfect" instead:
