what i read and found out learned today, about falling into water from a high altitude, and am completely intrigued by, verbatim:

A falling human stops short when it hits the surface of the water, but its organs keep traveling for a fraction of a second longer, until they hit the wall of the body cavity, which by that point has started to rebound. The aorta often ruptures because part of it is fixed to the body cavity--and thus stops at the same time--while the other part, the part closest to the heart, hangs free and stops slightly later; the two parts wind up traveling in opposite directions and the resultant shear forces cause the forces to snap.

and all this time, i thought i could jump off bridges. of course, the author is referring to much higher falls, like from airplanes crashing, but a jump off a bridge would/could break ribs, which in turn can likely pierce lungs or hearts.

and so it seems, we are not invincible.

i had a nice end of weekdays by going with mike to our favorite amusement park and seeing the newest attraction (aka THE FUCKING BIGGEST WATER PLAY AREA IN THE WORLD). rode some rides, ate vinegar fries, held hands, everything we've been doing the past three years.

we hung out with amy and adam, where amy and i made some art together in their attic while discussing how crazy it is about our men/relationships sitting downstairs. we are adults in love. we then spied on them from the top of the banister, only to overhear them talking not of relationships as well, but of bike rides and how much better their bikes are than ours.

i've finally finished being lazy and have written further letters of interest to the school district seemingly interested in me. i hope this mutual attraction leads further, but as time goes on, i'm only getting more nervous.

so for now all i can do is keep learning, keep running and petting my dog and continue to find something new to ease my mind about certain situations by the end of my days.
