[After the song ends, it takes a while before Ai is able to speak up. When she does, her voice is quiet.]

That was beautiful.

Thank you.

[She takes a deep breath before offering the faintest glimpse of a smile.]

[Ai gives her own smile as she tries to think of what else to say.]

You, ah....you said you don't typically celebrate Christmas, right? Do you celebrate something else?

I am Jewish -- I celebrate Hanukkah.

Hanukkah...isn't that the one holiday that last for over a week?

[Needless to say, Ai doesn't have many Jewish friends. Like, at all.]

Eight nights.

[Rachel nods quickly, with a brief smile.]

It's not the holiest of holy days in the Jewish calendar, but it's definitely one of the most fun.

It sound like a lot of fun. I'd love to be able to celebrate something every night for eight nights.

Do you give gifts during that time as well?

You receive a gift for every night.

Have you been able to celebrate it with someone here? It seems like almost everyone has been looking forward to Christmas, but I haven't seen anything else concerning other holidays.

My friend Noah is here, from home. He is also Jewish. He has been lighting candles with me -- and Raphael, one of the angels.

[Her smile is slightly strained, at the name.]

She has also celebrated with me.

[She doesn't seem to take notice of Rachel's forced smile.]

That's good. People should always be able to celebrate the holidays with others.

I normally celebrate it with my family, back home, but my fathers are not present -- so I'm doubly grateful that my friends are here to celebrate it with me.

That's so cool. Do you have any siblings?

[-- oh, Ai. Instant favorite. No one ever tells Rachel that's cool. So she's slightly warmer when she keeps talking.]

No, I'm an only child. I always wanted lots of siblings, though.
