[There is a tinkling of piano -- a few stray notes -- a few casual scales -- before Rachel tries to sing softly to herself. It's obvious that she's crying. Her breath keeps hitching as she tries to hold back sobs, but Rachel, being Rachel, tries anyway.

The opening chords should be pretty familiar to anyone who has any taste in theatre who knows ( Read more... )

Rachel...

[If there was ever a time she wished her Grace back, it would be now. At least then she could intrude on the girl and offer comfort- because Angels intrude and that's always a good thing. ... Right?]

[It's only because there is a filter that Rachel does not text Anna. That and it's Anna. Texting her would be more than mildly rude.

But Rachel is struggling to catch her breath. When she cries, she cries. She's not really the sort of person to hold that kind of stuff in.

Which is why Rachel suddenly becomes angry.]

It isn't fair!

[There's a hiccup and the ugly sound of mashed piano keys as Rachel tries to get a grip on herself.]

Why did they both have to go home and leave me here, I would never do that to them!

[She doesn't flinch, although the piano slam is a little jarring.]

I don't think anyone chooses when to leave. [And more than ever, she wishes she still had the power to do what she liked. She could send Rachel home with her friends, her family. But she can't.]

But why them?

Why couldn't it be someone horrid, someone dangerous, why does it have to be Kurt and Jesse?

[She sounds pathetically small and alone, now.]

[Which is why Anna's already out the door; she might not have ever ... walked to Solve before, but she knows the route by heart.]

They're home now; that's what matters. [...] I'll bet Kurt won't be colorblind any longer?

... No.

[Another hiccup.]

Not that it would matter as much as it did here -- he -- he wears a uniform, at Dalton, he doesn't have to pick out his clothes for school --

[She sniffs.]

But he hated it. Not being able to see those kind of things. I -- I don't know the difference between teal and cerulean, so I couldn't help as much as he needed --

Just because he wears a uniform doesn't mean he won't get into all sorts of clothing outside of school. And knowing Kurt, having a uniform would only make him want to dress even more fabulously on the weekends.

Maybe, but I'll be he appreciated it all the same.

He thought naming a shirt 'Glinda pink' was funny. That I was pretty hopeless.

[There's a tiny laugh.]

I'm not very good at the whole clothes thing.

You don't have to be. You have so many other talents, anyway. And besides, you wear your own style, what you like. There's nothing wrong with that.

And Glinda Pink is totally a color; I swear I've seen that in a fabric store somewhere.

Kurt wanted to burn all of my sweaters.

[But she does sound slightly comforted, at the notion that Anna doesn't seem to mind.]

-- and you did?

Yeah- in New York, actually. Went there a few years back on my last school holiday. Glinda Pink and Elphaba Green.

[It might have been a sale, maybe promoting the production- but whatever. It was still legitimate, right?]

[She sounds -- distinctly pleased.]

Maybe I can find him something when I go.

I think it'd be nice to have something made out of Glinda Pink. .. It'd probably clash with my hair, though.

[Almost there, almost there. Walking is annoying.]

Why would it?

[Reason #3423432 why Rachel Berry will one day be wearing the designer dresses, not making them.]

It washes my skin out- or makes me look really .. not my age. Red and pink shades are hard to match, I guess- unless you want to look like a walking Valentine Card. [She's joking. ... sort of.]

Is it possible to look your age?

[You're a very old angel. 8(]
