Hello.... anybody,
I am thinking about writing a paper about livejournals and what draws people to have them to write in. So I was just curious if anyone was willing to comment on this entry about just why they personally have a live journal? I'd really appreciate anything... thanks....

i actually conducted some studies for this damn paper cuz its a really major-ass thing, and i found out that almost all the people i surveyed who said they have livejournals do it to "vent" and get their feelings out. its kind of strange that we choose to vent to EVERYONE on our friends list (or more) instead of expressing ourselves to one or two people we really trust (or, for the purposes of my essay, writing it down in a private paper journal). thats something you might wanna explore.
you also might want to explore the "instant gratification" aspect of livejournaling... if you're feeling down or happy or whatever, you can post about it for all to see, and within an hour (if you're popular) you'll have advice, insults, compliments, arguments, encouragement, and anonymous hate-messages. in other words, as soon as you get a certain emotion, you instantly get the fulfillment of knowing that everyone is AWARE of that emotion. and that makes people feel good and important, even if they'd never admit it or don't realize it.
i could have worded this a lot better, but EH! and hey, let me know how that paper goes.
also: no one roast me please, i have a livejournal too! i just think this is an interesting topic.
