Yes, any distance was good distance when leaving behind a killer who moonlighted as a psychopathic counselor/stepfather. Then again, since A.J. sees Ryan as not only his whipping post and indentured servant, but a meal ticket- and he knows Ryan has way too much information about him, I wouldn't trust the low-life as far as I could throw him IN his barcalounger. He may not be the brightest bulb, only the most demented, but who knows what he has in store and what his exit strategy is despite misleading appearances.

Again, it's a great relief to see more personal growth, especially as it takes the form of less self-absorption (mostly for Seth), more sensitivity, and a stronger sense of teamwork, understanding, and group identity. No matter what the cause, a focus on a dose of humanity is always a good thing.

The idea that Seth feels compelled to help is a good thing, although I'm not sure how much faith I'd put in his abilities vs. good intentions. If nothing, it should boost is own confidence and it means that he's willing- and that Ryan isn't alone.

We'll have to see if Bob comes through- finally. Money and power make the world go 'round, so the kids- with the exception of Ryan- have parents who should have great influence individually and combined.

Ryan may be very compromised, but he's always had to be a survivor. Self-preservation instincts and knowledge would both be kicking in to sustain him and to help guide Seth too. Then again, who knows what awaits in the wild kingdom...?

As for A.J., I'm sure his diary would be just packed with some very insightful entries if he had an honest bone in his body, but a careless one would do. Ah, is he even capable of regrets, other than the self-serving variety?

Oliver Twisted, sometimes there IS justice!
