Recharging.

Brought dozens of Pinhole Journals home with me so I can bone up (correct expression?) on pinholio, get ideas, stop procrastinating and shoot with the superwide Leo this long weekend. Long yes, Monday free, so I don't feel bad getting out of bed just now. A little hibernation never hurt nobody. Of course I've missed calls from peoples. Yesterday was a little bit of all right workwise. Someone brought really good homemade apple pie. Round 3ish after finishing up in the DR I sat down to some of that, plus blue cheese & crackers and the last of the mushroom salad I brought earlier in the week. Cleaning up our tiny icebox at work or something. There's soup that's been parked in there for weeks! No time to eat when it's busy, savvy? Meanwhile ice crystals make for yummy additions to your meal. Nevermind.

Finishing up, and I mean it. The last print I needed for the 48 was easy enough - ciao forever LPD!, and just for kicks I went ahead and printed two more: One on warmish mystery paper (noone knows what it is, but it's warmtone and actually pretty sweet), warmish after the fact. And the other's good ol' Oriental. Can't remember if Ori is warm or coldtone or neutral. Glossy papers distract me. Before doing the 48 I was hesitant with printing coldtone papers + developers, but given enough time I've grown to appreciate what the better paper + dev combos can do. But my first love will always be warmtone. How can it not be? So many of my assignments and final projects were done with warmtone.

Sidebar: When a manufacturer stops making the tools you need for your craft, what do you do? You either look for an alternative, or "amass a lifetime supply" for your own use. Read the rest here.

More classwork: We finally did the [pyro-developed 4x5 negative + AZO F3s paper (very rare/discontinued!) + amidol dev] exercise and went through it pretty quick. You have to. Amidol gets exhauted in 2-3 hours, not that I get the point of why we're using a flimsy dev and no longer in production paper, but there's the lecture to look forward to.

As a reward for doing well, I sat out the rest of my shift at plab. There was noone printing anyway, probably a memo I missed about taking it easy eh? I fire up the meebo, snack snack snack, update GoodReads. We've come full circle then. These old bones insist that it's too cold to ride home, so public trans is a proper boon. Inside the rush-hour crowded bus people are tired, homesick, forlorn?, and loaded with bags and packages. I'm loaded with my daily commuting rux AND one of the full size pro Lowepro cam backpacks from work. Just in case the sloth lifts sometime, I'll be ready when it does.
