Attack of Random

Random blog:

I watched CSI: New York after aikido tonight. Nice way to unwind, though the creativity of the deaths never cease to amaze me. The only gripes I have with that show is that:

A) It makes the hard work of forensic pathologists all over the world look glamorous when it isn’t and takes away from their importance. Not only that but in most countries the pathologists are not detectives and do not make arrests.

B) It instils a lot of false hope in people. SA, unfortunately, has a high murder rate (though very rarely serial killers) and people think that we have such high tech equipment at easy and free disposal. So ordinary mortals will have to deal with a slow, plodding system instead of a day’s work by brilliant CSI-like people.

Kay! Now that that’s out the way…

I drove into the garage gate this vac. Not cool and really embarrassing. I was reversing out and teasing my brother about something when my back corner hit a concrete pot plant holder and that hit the gate. It was only when we came back and tried to open the gate that the problem arose. I hit the button, it lifted a foot and then sounded distinctly unhealthy. Turns out I’d hit the, um, groove thingy and bent it so that the wheels couldn’t roll the gate up. I freaked because Dad was coming home soon, but fortunately my brother (AKA 911) managed to get it working. My Dad was more worried about my problem with reversing, which was worse.

And then I trekked oil all over the beige carpets and had to spend 45 minutes scrubbing it out while my new Shin Budokai game sat waiting to be played.

Sigh. Stress at home is totally different to here. The politics at home are intense and I get caught in the middle of whatever spat is going on. Driving is scary and stressful and I got grounded for the dumbest reason, so dumb I will not write it here. My mom thought it was funny, but she didn’t undermine my dad by ungrounding me. They’ve always been good about that. Too good…

I upset a Christian friend today by accident with my evil agnostic ways. Not my style, but it happens because I can be fairly tactless due to my honest nature. I yelled something about feeling like Cinderella. No one took me seriously.

Now I’m waiting for my mentor to reply to my email…*goes off to spork her*

Yeah. Some random thoughts, but good for the soul.

vac stuff, csi
