My happy day
Today has been lovely. I got up and went to class where we had a fabulous discussion about the stereotyping of women artists and whether you can decide the gender of an artist by their media. We also talked about fine art versus craft art. After lunch I spent an hour in the travel abroad office researching foreign universities. I wanted to do the program to Italy through the University, but it appears that option is unaffordable. So, I’m currently researching other options.
After that I spent a few hours in Barnes and Nobles reading their manga. Yum. I originally went to see if they had any books on Nikki S. Lee, who is the artist I’m writing my research paper on, but I got distracted before I could leave. I bought a book called “Black like Me”, which is a work of non-fiction written by a white journalist living in the deep south during the 1950’s who chemically darkens his skin to make himself appear black. I’ve heard good things about it, so it should be interesting.
Right now I'm on call for work right now, in case they get busy. But I told my co-worker Jenny that if they don't call by 7:30pm I'm not going to be home. Swing dancing tonight, la la laa and tomorrow is the 4th and I've been invited to a couple of parties, which should be fun. I think I might do some painting, or reading. Hmmm decisions.
