alice nine. album review VANDALIZE
:o I'm doing this as I listen to it. :D This is based purely on my opinion of the album.
the beautiful name - The intro is long and pretty, but kind of annoying imo since it doesn't relate to the song too much. And it takes up too much time. Sounds better when Shou actually starts singing. :D From the chorus on, it's pretty okay. It just happens to reek of their older songs. >_>;; That doesn't change the fact that it's a good song, though. I think they're trying to make this song sound original with the intro and whatnot. It really does sound like some of their other songs...I can't put the names to it at the moment, though. Not one of my favorite songs. It's kind of boring after the first half of the song.
Hyakkaryouran - Is the title right? XD I can't tell. Starts off pretty well, a lot better than the beautiful name. However, when it comes to the chorus, it kind of switches off into a different route than the verse. o_o;; They tend to do that a lot in their songs, I've noticed, though. The engrish lyrics right before are pretty good, even though they kind of suck. XD I'm not a big fan of this song since the chorus is detached from the verse. And overall, that's how it is. o_o Sounds great up until the actual chorus, though. :D
RAINBOWS - This is probably my favorite alice nine. EVER right here. This is the kind of head-banging song I like to here. Plus, the PV was pretty awesome. I want to walk on those treadmill-type things. ;D The chorus is my favorite part. It has the WHOOOAAA thing going in the background, but in a subtle way. (Or so it seems because I'm half-deaf in one ear. XD) This is my most recommended song by this band, because it has that real VK attitude, with a bit of their old sounds-like-this-song-songs. XD Shou's vocals in this song are pretty hawt. ;D And right after, the guitar solos are great. Especially Hiro's at the end. And Saga's bass follows. Overall, the best song on the album, and ever.
Kiss twice, kiss me deadly - I kind of really hate this song. D; It's alice nine. gone old school. o__o I don't like Shou's vocals in this song, nor do I like the background singer. XD It's all very annoying. And it doesn't work with Shou. At all. D; Definitely not a song I would recommend anyone to listen to.
CROSS GAME - I think this is one of the songs I said the beautiful name reminds me off. Don't ask how, but it does. Maybe it's because the choruses always sound so...J-Pop/Anime...ish. I can't describe it. It's just how they do their songs, I guess. Anyway, it's a decent song. Not one of my favorites, since it's not so new to me. Funny thing is that it actually IS an anime theme song. XD I think the only problem I have with this song is the chorus.
Subaru - This is one of my favorite songs on this album since it starts out so slow and beautiful. On second thought, it's the beautiful name's intro but with a better-sounding Shou. XD It really is a nice ballad that picks up a little more in the middle. It has a peaceful effect. The only problem with this song that I can see is that it's pretty long. XD That, and Shou's Be As One in the end kind of messes up the prettiness of the song. XD
www. - Now we come to the more hard rock songs on the album. <3 I like this song a lot, and the same for the next song after this.
Drella - This is another rocking song. :D The only thing in this song I regret is that Shou's vocals aren't as strong as the music.
MIRROR BALL - The piano version of the original song. While the piano is nice, it's not the best version of this song I've heard. Pretty, though.
Innocence - This is one of the boring songs to me. o-o; It's an upbeat song, too. XD I think that, while the beginning is good, the chorus kind of lacks. And it reminds me of L'Arc-enCiel's Ready Steady Go. o_o It really does. It's a song that could be done better.
Waterfall - Another one of my favorite songs on the album. Like Subaru, it's a ballad type. But the good thing about this song is that it really picks up into a higher beat in the second chorus. Just as long as Subaru, I think this song is pretty good.
Overall, this album gets 8.5/10. Just because some of the songs are recycled and boring doesn't mean they aren't good. :D
