Marc just woke me up to tell me that Steve Irwin's dead. I'm so unbelievably sad about the news, and I've been crying for about 20 minutes now over it. I suppose some would think its sad to cry over some celebrity I'd never even met, but I'd say he was the closest I'd had to a hero or inspiration in my life. Despite all his antics, he loved what he did, and he contributed significantly to the public's knowlege and understanding of some of the world's most hated creatures. I really looked up to him, and I'm beside myself to know that he is gone.
Steve-o, we'll miss you, and thank you for all you gave to the world. It just won't be the same without you. My only consolation is that you weren't killed by a croc or snake, so people can't be all "see how dangerous they are?!?!?!"
