Soo, as you all know, we've been wanting to get a cat for some time. We've been preparing, researching cat-proofing, making a first aid kit and other emergency preparedness stuff, all that kinda thing.
Anyways, yesterday I went to SuperPet Kanata to go pick up some fish from an ex-coworker and good friend, as well as to get some bugs for the lizards, when we met Monty. Big, fluffy, indifferent Monty. And we fell in love. We filled in the Humane Society application right away, and I was rather suprised that they didn't even take much/any time to approve me, as I took him home today. He settled right in:
I will take more pics soon, its just dark in here, and pics are getting washed out. Judging by the fuzz between his toes and the shape of his coat, I wonder if he has any Maine Coon in him. That'd be nice!
I only have one concern. Monty was chillaxing all night so far, but a little bit ago, he got to see my snake, Nathan, slithering about within his locked enclosure. Now Monty is apprehensive and wary, maybe a little grumpy. I covered up the acrylic front of the snake cage, and while still not looking the happiest, Monty has settled a bit. I think I should have thought to cover the snake cage earlier. Oops. I hope Monty gets over his fear/hatred/whatever, but he is acting now almost how I would expect a cat to act in a new environment, so maybe its not just the snake.
I will post more sometime soon! This is all so exciting!
