Hi all. I decided to start walking recently (trying to lose a few pounds this year, as I'm worried about my health. :| ), and so, I decided, I'll go for a walk Saturday. I took a trip through the Matthaei Botanical Gardens (run by the University of Michigan, but open to the public), and went down one of the trails. Now, this place is a floodplain, so, some areas are a bit... very wet, even on the trails. For the most part though, it was all frozen over, so, I could just glide across the ice carefully. Then I come around to a bend near the end of the trail, and this has been 45 minutes in the cold. 10 degrees cold. And the creek that flows through the Gardens is flowing. Alot. Along the trail. OVER the trail. With that, I decide to turn around. So, 30 minutes later, I'm back at my car and freezing my chin off (but not much else, I layered up good). Sadly, that's all it took, and the next day, I was feeling a cold coming on. Today, it hit me hard. Which I guess means that I've peaked, I hope. Anywho, next time I go for a walk in that kind of weather, I'm taking a scarf. :|
